AIDS :- AIDS is Acquired immune deficiency syndrome. It is immune deficiency syndrome. AIDS is caused by HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). AIDS is said to be first reported in 1981. AIDS stands for Acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Let us understand what does each word stands for:
Acquired – This means you might get infected with it.
Immune deficiency – The weakness of the immune system in the body.
Syndrome – The symptoms of a group that creates illness.
AIDS can be transmitted by:
a) Sexual contact with an infected person.
b) By transfusion of contaminated blood.
c) Infected mother to her child.
d) By sharing infected needles.

Symptoms of AIDS are fever, lethargy, weight loss, nausea, headache, etc. In AIDS, the immune system of the infected person becomes very weak. The initial signs of this AIDS may be a brief phase of respiratory illness such as fever, cough, and fatigue. As the infection develops gradually, it affects the immune system. So, the people who are suffering from the disorder become too vulnerable and more prone to serious infections such as tuberculosis, tumours, asthma, etc.

STD:- STD Stands for Sexually Transmitted Disease. STDs are those diseases which are transmitted through sexual intercourse with infected persons are collectively termed as STDs. Some sexually transmitted diseases are syphilis, Gonorrhoea, AIDS, hepatitis B, genital herpes, genital warts, chlamydiosis and trichomoniasis. These diseases are caused by bacteria, viruses, chlamydiae, protozoa, nematodes, etc.
