Hint: A periodic table is a great source of information about the elements and their relation to each other. Changes of different periodic properties. Also, this helps to predict the properties of the elements even if they are not discovered. In the case of the periodic table from left to right metallic character decreases and non-metallic character increases.
Complete step by step answer:
According to nature, metals are hard on the other hand non-metals are soft in nature.
According to the luster, metals have the quality b which they can reflect the lights and they can be polished. But on the other hand, non-metals are non-lusters.
According to the Ductility, (can be converted into wire) metals show ductile behavior. On the other hand, non-metals do not show ductile nature.
Metals can be converted into thin sheets; this is called Malleability. But non-metals cannot be converted into the sheet.
Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity. So, they can show conductivity. On the other hand, non-metals don’t have the conductivity property. But the exception is graphite. Though graphite is a non-metal it can conduct electricity. And diamonds and non-metal can conduct heat.
Note: As metals are electropositive, they tend to donate electrons and as non-metals are electronegative, they tend to accept electrons.
According to the electronic method. The species which donate electrons are called a reducing agent and the species which accepts the electron is called an oxidizing agent.
As metal donates electrons it is a reducing agent and non-metal accepts electrons so it is an oxidizing agent. And non-metals are reducing agents.
