Hint:Chlorophyll is the pigment and the part of an organelle chloroplast which is the site of photosynthesis in plants.Photosynthesis plays the most important role in the life cycle of plants wherein different organelles, pigments and plant structures are involved.
Complete answer:
Note:Chlorophyll is the part of chloroplast and is the light absorbing pigments which provide green color to the plants, indirectly responsible for absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen but chloroplast traps the solar energy, which is the site of photosynthesis and other chemical reactions and works as the 'powerhouse of the cell' like mitochondria. One of the major difference between them is, chlorophyll is present in the mesophyll cells, while chloroplast occurs in the cytoplasm of plant cells. There are two types of Chlorophyll present which are chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b, both are essential for photosynthesis.
Complete answer:
| Chlorophyll | Chloroplast |
| 1) They are fat-soluble organic molecules having tetrapyrrole rings hence referred to as the “Tetrapyrrole pigments. | 1) Organelle found in all green plants. |
| 2) Food producers of the cell found in green plants, present in the thylakoid membrane of chloroplast. | 2) It is the site for photosynthesis to occur, converting sunlight into chemical energy. |
| 3) Responsible for plants to grow healthy and green. | Carries out photosynthesis, light reactions, carbon assimilation reaction and much more |
| 4) Reflects green colour by absorbing red and blue wavelengths. | 3) Encloses the fluid stroma inside the double membrane. Contains tiny, flattened, floating sacs known as thylakoids arranged as granum. |
| 5) Do not have their own DNA. | 4)It has its own DNA organelle known as cpDNA. |
