 Local media refers to the news and information circulated at the local levels, that is, in a town or city. It includes the local newspaper, which are newspapers circulated only in a specific area. The local newspapers contain information only about the region where it is circulated. They may be weekly, monthly or yearly. Local media also includes the local radio broadcast, generally related to the weather and agriculture of that place, telling farmers about the prices of food and commercial crops.

Local media is of immense importance as it creates awareness among the local people. They get to know about the most basic news which is generally ignored in the newspapers and TV channels. The people also get notified about various job opportunities which may be available in their area. If people are aware of their local regions then they act more diligently when compared to the people who don’t have knowledge about their area, such people turn ignorant in the longer run.
