Shuddhi Movement was always started by the Arya Samaj that was in earlier part that of 20th century than to bring that back to the people which had converted them to Islam and Christianity from the Hinduism. The Shuddhi Movement was challenged from the Christian missionaries who then tried to convert them uneducated, poor and depressed from the classes of the Hindus.

The shuddhi movement was started within the early 20th century by Arya Samaj bringing non-Hindus back to Hinduism and stemming the conversions to Islam and Christianity.

The socio-political movement was, derived that from the ancient right of shuddhikaran, or purification that was started by the Arya Samaj, and then it has been founded by Swami Dayanand Saraswati and his followers like swami Shraddhanand, who also worked as on the Sangathan of consolidation as an aspect of the Hinduism, then in North India, especially of Punjab in early 1900s.

It does so by particularly specializing in the shuddhi movement (purification; conversion from other religions to Hinduism and reclamation of lower castes into the Hindu caste hierarchy) and therefore the Sangathan movement.
