During the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, the Khokhar tribe was very influential and powerful in Punjab. Muhammad Ghori was killed by the Khokhar of the Salt Range in March 1206. Before he was killed, he undertook many campaigns against the Khokhar in Punjab. Even though Lahore was re-occupied by Delhi, it was being attacked multiple times by the Mongols and their Khokhar allies and remained in ruins for the next twenty years. A Mongol commander named Hulechu occupied Lahore around the same time. He forged an alliance with Khokhar chief Raja Gulchand. The son of Shaikha Khokhar was Raja Jasrath Khokhar.
