Hint:Raja Desingh was a king of Bundela Rajput. He ruled over Gingee in 1714 CE. He created a town in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, as a mark of remembrance for his wife. The town is famous among locals as Raja-Rani mandapam.
Complete answer:
Ranipet was created as a mark of remembrance for his wife.
Raja Desingh and his wife Ranibai's memorial is situated on the banks of the Palar river. As the ruler of Gingee fort, Raja Desingh refused to oblige the order of the Mughal Emperor to pay the taxes to the Nawab of Carnatic. As a result, Nawab of Arcot declared a battle against the Raja Design and his Gingee fort. Nawab of Acrot, Saadatullah khan had 8000 horsemen and 10,000 soldiers, and Raja Desingh's force was very small. He had only 350 horsemen and 500 troops. Raja Desingh was very brave, even though Nawab ordered his men to catch him alive but they found it difficult and shot him dead in the battle in 1714. His wife Rabibai, committed Sati after his death. This incident turned the Saadatullah khan, Carrrnatic nawab and he built a marble memorial in 1771, as a mark of respect for Raja Devsingh and for his wife Ranibai who committed Sati. The city was formed opposite Arcot on the northern bank of the river Palar and was named after the name of the Ranibai wife of Design.
Hence, the correct answer is option (A).
Note:Ranipet served as the garrison for the regiments of the British force, that is the reason it has a historical significance. Ranipet became the district headquarters for the Ranipet revenue division on 15-Aug-2019. This memorial consists of two identical tomb-like structures.
