Hint:The southernmost tip of the territory of India is Indira point is a village that is situated in the Nicobar district of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This village is named after Indira Gandhi who was the former prime minister of India.

Complete answer:
The southernmost point of India is Indira point which was earlier known as Pygmalion point and Parsons point. A local MP of the place, during the visit of Indira Gandhi to the point on February 19 1984, suggested that the name of the Pygmalion point should be changed and kept after the name of Indira Gandhi. After the death of Indira Gandhi, on 10th October 1984, an official renaming ceremony took place. At Indira point, a lighthouse is located that provides direction or illumination to the sea vessels travelling via India to Malacca and Malaysia. The height of Indira point is 47 meters from the sea level. During the tsunami that occurred in December 2004, the height of Indira point was reduced by 4.25, thus changing the geography of this location. According to the Census -2011, only four families live at this point and the total population of these families is 27 people with the literacy rate of 85%.

Hence, the correct answer is option (B).

Note:The Andaman and Nicobar Island has only one airport at Port Blair. It is through this air service that Port Blair is connected to the rest of India. Now, a road of around 21 kms is being constructed from Shastri Nagar to Indira point via a bridge over the Galatia river by the Government.
