Complete answer:
The biggest producer of tea in India is Assam. The tea industry of Assam is over 170 years old and plays a very important part in the economy of not only the state but also the nation. The government started a tea garden in Assam in 1833. When this tea was exported to London in large amounts, the commercial people in Assam formed the Assam Company in 1839 to take over the holdings of the East India Company.
The tea plants in Assam are cultivated in lowlands, which is in contrast to other tea producers like Darjeeling and Nilgiri where the tea plants are grown in highlands. In Assam, tea is cultivated in the valley of the Brahmaputra River. This area is a floodplain rich in nutrients and clay soil. The cold, dry winters and the warm humid monsoons provide the perfect conditions for growing tea. This place also receives the most generous rains in the world. This is the reason why Assam is the most prolific tea producing state in India and in the world.
Assam tea is harvested twice, i.e. first flush and second flush. The first flush is the harvesting of tea leaves in March. The second flush of harvesting is done later. The leaves of the second flush are sold at a greater price. These leaves are more full-bodied, sweeter, and more superior in taste than the leaves of the first flush. The leaves of the second flush are also called ‘tippy tea’.

Therefore the answer is 2. Assam

Note:
Each year Assam yields approximately 700 million kgs of tea, which places India as the second-biggest producer of tea in the world after China.
In China, tea is grown towards the north in the Shandong province and towards the west in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces.
