Hint: The revolt of 1857 also known as the Sepoy Mutiny was the first-ever Indian uprising that took place as India’s first struggle for independence. It began on 10th May 1857 at Meerut.

Complete answer: Rani Lakshmi Bai who was the queen of Jhansi, a princely state which was governed by the Marathas is considered to be one of the most inspiring and prominent leaders during the Indian revolt of 1857. She fought like a true patriot and her heroic act in the revolt of 1857 or sepoy mutiny as we call it is remembered even today.
On May 10th, 1857 when the sepoy mutiny started in Meerut against the British rule gradually the uprising started to spread in other territories as well, when the unrest spread at Jhansi, Rani Lakshmi Bai demanded permission from Captain Alexander to start the revolt and he agreed. The city was in regional uprising to secure her subjects; she performed an auspicious ceremony. In June 1857, the rebellious Bengal Infantry killed many European officials along with their families. She was successful in saving Jhansi from invaders who wanted to divide Jhansi. She built an army which consisted of 14,000 rebellions and had many patriots; the women were provided military assistance so that they would put up a strong fight.
In 1858, General Hugh Rose came and demanded that Jhansi should surrender and bombarded Jhansi and seized the Jhansi fort. An army which was headed by Tantia Tope to free Jhansi was defeated by the British forces.
Thus, option B is the correct answer.

Note: Rani Laksmi Bai is still remembered for the strength she showed during the revolt of 1857 despite her fort being captured she did not surrender and fought with the British troops alone and managed to escape successfully.
