Hint: Blood has three types of cells i.e RBC, WBC and platelets. All the cells perform different types of the functions in the blood.

Complete answer:
Red Blood cells, also known as Erythrocytes contain the red colored, iron containing pigment called hemoglobin.
Red blood cells or erythrocytes are commonly known blood cells and a means by which oxygen gets delivered into human body tissue by the help of our circulatory system. A red blood cell gets the oxygen in the lungs and precedes it to the blood tissues through the capillaries. RBCs are a very rich source of hemoglobin. Red blood cell has a biconcave shape which helps the cell in oxygen exchange due to the large area. Red blood cells develop in the bone marrow mostly red blood cells are in round shape but some of them are oval. The amount of hemoglobin and cells may vary from person to person accordingly. Due to certain reasons like high altitude, smoking etc. the abnormal shapes of these red blood cells main lead to diseases like Sickle Cell anemia a disease caused by abnormal shape of round shaped RBCs and Pernicious anemia caused by abnormal shape of the oval RBCs.
These pigments are responsible for the transportation of gases all throughout the body. In every 100 ml of blood, an individual should have 12-16gms of hemoglobin. The RBCs takes up the carbon dioxide from the tissues to the lungs and releases oxygen into the tissues.

The correct answer is (B) to carry oxygen to different parts of the body.

Note: RBCs are oxygen transporting cells whereas WBCs are responsible for fighting the diseases in the body and platelets are responsible for blood clotting.
