Hint: In India, the National Highways Authority of India or NHAI is the central agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Complete Step by Step answer: NH-44 is without a doubt, the longest National Highway in India. This highway is around 3700km and covers the distance from Srinagar to Kanyakumari (North-South Corridor). It became the longest National Highway because seven national highways were merged together to create this route. It starts with the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the former NH 1A, from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. It traces its route in Punjab and Haryana and ends at Delhi. After Delhi, it traces its route to meet at Agra, the former NH 3 or also known as Agra-Bombay National Highway. This NH starts from Agra to Gwalior and then goes on to Jhansi. Finally, NH 44 terminates at Kanyakumari, which was formerly called NH 7.
Looking at the options given:
Option a- NH 45 lies in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It was in 2016 that it got extended from Jabalpur to Bilaspur. This option is therefore not the correct answer.
Option b- NH 46 is present in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It runs from Gwalior to Betul and is 634 km long. This is thus an incorrect answer.
Option c- NH 44 is the longest National Highway and is the correct answer.
Option d- NH 50 lies in the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Its length is about 751.4 km. Therefore, this is not the correct answer.

Hence,Option “c” is the correct answer.

Note: India has a very extensive network of National Highways. These make transportation by roads a lot easier than it ever was. Currently (April 2019) India has around 142,126 km of National Highways.
