Hint : Those policies which involve deepening political, socio-cultural trade and defence ties between countries is called foreign policy. Mutual respect for each other’s territory is a basic requirement for a good foreign policy.

The council of ministers(The Cabinet) along with the prime minister are responsible for the formulation of foreign policy. The ministry of external affairs is especially responsible for this. The whole government is responsible for this. So, the cabinet formulates the foreign policy with the help of many IAS and IFS officers.The Cabinet formulates the external and domestic policies of the government.
The guiding principles of India’s foreign policy is based on pragmatism, panchsheel and pursuit of national interest.

Note : In the present time, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is responsible for the foreign policy.
The present government's foreign policy is focused on improving relations with neighbouring countries in South Asia. India is focusing on the Look east policy to make strong relations with other East Asian countries.
