Hint:. The basic knowledge of acids and bases, how they react and what happens if an acid reacts with a base will help in answering this question. Also try to analyze the neutralization reaction which says the reaction between acids and bases.
Complete step by step answer:
The name of the acid that produces in our stomach is Hydrochloric acid that is $HCl$. The inner surface of the stomach is so soft and very smooth. If we take food then this acid mixes up with it and produces required actions for digestion. If we do not take food at regular intervals of time then the stomach has to bear this acid which may affect the layers of it and also may produce ulcers.
If the amount of acid produced in the stomach is exceeded then the required then it causes indigestion of the food that whatever we take in which may produce irritation and pain in the stomach. It also causes irritation and burning sensation in the esophagus which is also known as acidity.
We can cure this acidity by taking the antacids which are nothing but base that neutralizes the excess acid in the stomach. We know that when an acid reacts with the base then it forms salts and water and this reaction is known as neutralization reaction.
Note: There are commercially available antacids for example ENO etc. that gives us relaxation from the acidity in a quick manner. Also there is a naturally occurring substance that acts as antacids.
