Wasps act as pollinators for the fig tree, in which the flowers are present inside the fruit. The relationship between the wasp and the fig is like mutualism as both the parties benefit each other. The wasp lays its egg inside the flower so that they remain safe and to return the favor the wasp pollinates the flower.

Fig trees do not possess visible flowers. Initially it seems as if they are wind pollinated due it’s unattractive outer look. A fig is the stem of an inflorescence that surrounds the tiny flowers inside them. When eating a fig, the crunchy little thing is the seed, each corresponding to a flower. This unique flower requires a fig for its pollination and so all fig trees get pollinated by a group of very small wasps from the family Agaonidae.
