Hint: You must know the types of diffusion and their definition. You must know that diffusion has three types as they are simple diffusion, osmosis, and facilitated diffusion.
Complete answer:
There are three types of diffusion :
simple diffusion
osmosis diffusion
facilitated diffusion.
(i) Simple diffusion occurs when ions or molecules diffuse from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
For example the evaporation of water in plants during transpiration and the gaseous exchange that occurs during photosynthesis these are some example for the simple diffusion.
(ii) In this the particles moving are water molecules is known as osmosis diffusion across a semi-permeable membrane that they move from a region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration.
For example, water molecules flow to the region of salt solution as it has a higher solute (salt) content because if the water and salt solution are separated by a semi-permeable membrane
(iii )The movement of hydrophilic molecules or ions across the plasma membrane. The difference is, the diffusion is facilitated by transport protein is known as Facilitated diffusion.
Note:
All three types of diffusion don't require energy because they are forms of passive transport.
Three types of diffusion are distinguished as molecular, Brownian, and turbulent. Molecular diffusion occurs in gases, liquids, and solids; both diffusions of molecules of extraneous substances like impurities and self-diffusion is observed. The thermal motion of the molecules is the reason for molecular diffusion.
