Hint: In this question we have to explain the product of numbers. In mathematics, there are four primary operations named addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Each operation will occur between a minimum of two numbers. And in each operation the numbers involved and the result produced will have a separate name.
Complete answer:
Multiplication is a way of adding a particular number for certain times. For example \[2 \times 3\] (read as \[2\] by \[3\] or \[2\] into \[3\]) means that add \[2\] for \[3\] times, i.e., \[2 + 2 + 2\]. This kind of addition is called multiplication.
In multiplication, the number to be multiplied is called factor or multiplicand and the number multiplied by is called multiplier. And the result of the multiplication is called product. In other words, a product is the result of multiplication.
\[{\text{multiplicand}} \times {\text{multiplier}} = {\text{product}}\]
For example if \[2\] and \[3\] are the two numbers to be multiplied then the product of this multiplication is \[6\], where \[2\] is the multiplicand and \[3\] is the multiplier, that is, \[2 \times 3 = 6\].
Thus we can say that \[6\] is the product of \[2\] and \[3\].
Note:
Like multiplication the numbers involved in all other operations also have names.
The numbers involved in addition are called summand and the result is called sum.\[{\text{summand}} + {\text{summand}} = {\text{sum}}\]. Example: \[2 + 3 = 5\], \[2\] and \[3\] are the summands and \[5\] is the sum of \[2\] and \[3\]
In subtraction, the number to be subtract from is called minuend and to be subtract is called subtrahend and the result is known as difference. \[{\text{minuend}} - {\text{subtrahend}} = {\text{difference}}\]. Example: \[3 - 2 = 1\], \[3\] is the minuend and \[2\] is the subtrahend where \[1\] is the difference between \[3\] and \[2\].
The number to be divided is called dividend and divided by divisor gives a quotient in division operation. \[{\text{dividend}} \div {\text{divisor}} = {\text{quotient}}\]. Example: \[20 \div 5 = 4\], where \[20\] is the dividend, \[5\] is the divisor and \[4\] is the quotient.
