Hint: Titration also known as volumetric analysis or titrimetry is a technique in which one solution of known concentration is slowly added to another solution of unknown concentration until the reaction becomes neutralized, which is often indicated by a colour change . There are four types of titration which includes acid- base titration, redox titration, precipitation titration, and complexometric titration. Hence, titration is a laboratory method of quantitative chemical analysis to determine the concentration of an unknown solution.

The basic principle of titration involves slow addition of titrant or standard solution i.e. the solution of known concentration from the burette into the sample of unknown concentration which is to be analyzed.
During titration two important stages are reached i.e. equivalence point and end point of titration.
Equivalence point in titration refers to a point where the added titrant is chemically equivalent to the sample analyte. Moreover, an equivalence point is a point where the chemical reaction comes to an end.
Whereas, the end point in titration is the point at which the indicator shows that the amount of reactant or titrant necessary to complete the reaction has been added to the solution. The end point is usually indicated by a change in colour in the system.

Indicator in a titration helps to detect the end point in a titration. There are different types of indicators which include indicators derived from natural sources called natural indicators, like litmus etc. Next type of indicator is called synthetic indicators which are prepared in laboratories like phenolphtaleine, etc. Olfactory indicators are those which give different odors in acidic and basic mediums like onion, vanilla essence, etc.
