Hint: Sheehan’s syndrome is also called as postpartum pituitary gland necrosis. It is a condition that may affect those women who is pregnant. There is lack of oxygen due to this, which causes this syndrome in the child.

Sheehan’s syndrome is decreased functioning of the pituitary gland that is caused due to ischemic necrosis because of blood loss and some severe shock that is given during and after childbirth. It causes a decrease in the secretion of one or more of the hormones that are secreted by the pituitary hormone.
SIGN AND SYMPTOMS- There are various symptoms that can be observed in Sheehan’s syndrome. The most common initial symptom of this disease is agalactorrhea or the absence of lactation. There are many women who are amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea after delivery. The issues related to hypothyroidism such as tiredness, intolerance to cold, constipation, weight gain, hair loss, slow heart rate and low blood pressure can be seen in this syndrome. The growth of a person may get hammered and symptoms like amenorrhea, hot flashes are also observed in this problem.
Note: Sheehan’s syndrome is caused due to rare complication of pregnancy that is done after excessive bleeding after the delivery. One of the causes of pituitary growth is due to hyperplasia of lactotrophs. This syndrome may be inherited or acquired dissemination blood coagulation that is restricted pituitary blood supply, small sella size or thrombosis.
