Hint: A “motion” is a parliamentary lingo that means a proposal by a member of the house. There are majorly three types of motions such as substantive, substitute and subsidiary motions.

Complete answer: Adjournment motion is introduced in the Parliament to draw the focus of the members of the House to a matter of urgent public attention. It needs the support of 50 members to be admitted. It is an extraordinary device as it stops the normal business of the House. It should raise only one matter of urgency. It should not be framed in general terms. It should include any matter that is under adjudication by the court. It should also not raise any question that can be raised in any other motion. It should not include any matter that has already been discussed in the same session. It should also not raise a question of privilege. Rajya Sabha is not permitted to use adjournment motion. The discussion on adjournment motion should not last for less than 2 hours and 30 minutes. It is different from the calling attention motions, these two shouldn't be confused together.

Note: Parliament is considered as the supreme legislative body of any nation. The major role of a parliament includes formulating laws and regulation, holding debates and discussions and representing the electorate.
