Hint:An aryl group can be defined as a functional group derived from a simple aromatic ring in which one hydrogen atom is removed from the ring. Generally the aromatic ring is a hydrocarbon in nature.
Complete step-by-step answer:Generally two types of compounds are present alkyl and aryl groups where alkyl are those groups which have a chain like structures whereas aryl are those which contains ring in their compound structure and the compound containing aryl group are known as aromatic substances and those who have only alkyl group are called aliphatic in nature.
Due to the hydrocarbon nature these have suffix -yl for example thienyl, phenyl, etc. In chemical structures the presence of an aryl group is represented using the shorthand notation Ar. This symbol is the same as the symbol for the element argon but it does not create any type of confusion because it is only used in the context of organic chemistry whereas argon is noble gas and inert in nature. The process of attaching an aryl group to a substituent is called arylation. Arylation is done by the reactions which come under the cross coupling reaction types.
Note: The main example of aryl is phenyl functional group represented by the molecular formula which is derived from benzene having molecular formula in this case one hydrogen atom is replaced with any aromatic group and known as aryl group. Similarly the naphthyl group is the aryl group derived from naphthalene.
