The government in which there is rule of one person or party for lifetime or until that person or party renounce his incumbent is called Monarchy type of government. In a monarchy form of government the ruler has control and can extend up to the executive, legislative and judiciary areas. The person which succeeds usually is of the same family. In most monarchies the throne is passed from male to male only which means from father to son and not to any female person. The main reasons for the rise of monarchy was its ability to lead a large population and vast territories at a time when there was no source of connection except meeting physically. It also started due to the wishes of the people which can be a city population or tribe who wants one person to lead them. There are mainly three types of monarchy such as:-

Crowned republic: In a crowned republic the monarch’s role is of only nominal one.it has very little interference in the executive and constitutional issues. Example: - Australia.

Constitutional monarchy: - In constitutional monarchy the king or Queen is the head of the state but the power is shared between the parliament and the king or Queen. The king or queen has to act within the limits of the constitution. Examples: - United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and Japan are some of the examples of Constitutional monarchies.

Absolute monarchy: - In absolute monarchy the whole power is concentrated in the hands of a single person. It has unrestricted power. In this type of monarchy the throne is passed from parents to children. Though in some absolute monarchy the parliament and institutions are there but they have no power .Examples: - Brunei, Qatar, and Oman are some of the latest examples of absolute monarchy.

The various titles of a monarch are king, queen, emperor, raja, khan, caliph, tsar, sultan or shah.
Elizabeth II is regarded as the Queen or head of the United Kingdom and other 15 Commonwealth realms which is a Monarchy form of government.
According to the 2019 report at present there are 44 states in the world where a Monarch is the head.
