Hint :To understand inertia, let us recall our journey in the bus, when the driver applies a sudden brake our body tends to move forward, why is it so? Answer is inertia. Here we will thoroughly take an example to understand it in better ways.

The above said example illustrates that there is a resistance offered by an object or a body to change its state of motion. If a body is at rest it will want to remain at rest and if it is motion it will keep moving. This property of an object or a body to resist any change is called as inertia.
Now we have to understand if all bodies possess the same inertia? To find its answer we have to visualize pushing an empty and a full shopping cart in a mall, which will be easier to move? Similarly, if we carry an empty water bottle, it will be easy in comparison to a filled bottle.
By now we have understood that heavier or more massive objects offer larger inertia. Quantitatively, the inertia of an object is measurement related to its mass. We can now relate inertia and mass as follows:
