Hint: Flow of the gases on very large scale is called as wind, on the surface of the earth, wind is the flow of air while on the outer surface, which means that out of planet, wind is the nothing but flow of gases that are emitted from the sun.
Complete answer:
- Wind is nothing but the difference in atmospheric pressure, and the wind always moves from high atmospheric pressure to low atmospheric pressure which results in the formation of wind of various speeds.
- The wind on the earth is obtained by the Coriolis effect because the earth is a rotating planet, the effect is not acceptable at equator.
- There are mainly two major factors for the wind, they are differential heating between the equator and polar parts of the rotating planet.
- Large scale winds tend to approach by geostrophic balance.
- There is presence of surface friction on the earth, this is the reason where the wind blows more inwards into lower pressure areas.
- Geostrophic components of wind are the result of balance between Coriolis force and pressure gradient force.
- The thermal wind on the earth is due to the difference in the geostrophic wind between the two levels of the atmosphere.
- In general this wind is used for various purposes, but the wind power can be captured only if the velocity of the wind is reduced to zero.
- In this natural world, wind has various effects such as it causes the erosion of the lands, and the dust migrations in the deserts, etc.
Note: In the olden days, wind is used for transportation of ships such as wind sailing and wind is also used for generation of electricity and wind it is used in the production of the food, and for the pumping of water.
