Hint: An element is a substance made up of only one type of atom. Each type of atom has the same number of protons. Chemical bonds bind elements together to form more complex molecules called compounds. A compound is made up of covalent or ionic bonds that connect two or more different types of elements.

Complete answer:
A pure substance that cannot be broken down into different types of substances is referred to as an element. There are nearly 120 known elements each with its own characteristics. One element's chemical and physical properties differ from those of another. In the Periodic Table, elements are arranged according to their properties.
A pure ingredient or compound is made up of only one substance, with no other components. Impure materials include mixtures of components, chemical combinations, and element and compound mixtures.
Impure compounds have a melting point that is slightly lower and a wider melting temperature spectrum than pure materials. Pure substances can be determined by comparing the melting point observed in the experiment with published reference data on what the melting point should be.

Note:
Metals make up the vast majority of known elements. Metals are lustrous or gleaming elements. They are also excellent heat and electricity conductors. Iron, gold, and copper are examples of metals. Nonmetals are made up of fewer than 20 elements. Metals have properties that nonmetals do not. Nonmetals include oxygen, hydrogen, and sulphur to name a few. Other elements have properties that are similar to both metals and nonmetals. They are called metalloids. Silicon and boron are examples of metalloids.
