Now first of all, let’s discuss fluted filter paper and hot water funnel. Fluted filter paper is a disc which involves the arrangement of eight folds in the filter paper. It provides large surface area for the impurities to collect and helps the air to enter into the container through its sides and thus, increases filtration speed which helps the liquid to quickly move down into the container and get filtered.
In the hot water funnel, the funnel is filled and covered with the hot fluid and the liquid passes down into the container with a small opening and the impurities are left behind in the funnel itself only.
Now considering the statement as;-
Both the fluted filter paper and the hot water funnel is used for filtration. But there is one difference which restricts use at each filtration.
Fluted filter paper is used when the solution which is to be filtered is of small volume i.e. present in small quantity.
Whereas on the other hand, hot water funnel is used when the solution which is to be filtered is of large volume i.e. present in large quantity.
