Hint: Given that at every step 6 red balls are removed and 12 balls are added and we need to find the number of steps after which the number of red balls will be zero. And multiplying 12 with the number of steps we get the number of white balls at the end.

Complete step-by-step answer:
We are given that there are 222 red balls in the basket
In each step 6 red balls are removed and 12 white balls are added
After n steps the number of red balls will be zero
That is
$ \Rightarrow 222 - 6n = 0$
From this lets find the value of n using the above equation
$
   \Rightarrow 222 = 6n \\
   \Rightarrow n = \dfrac{{222}}{6} \\
   \Rightarrow n = 37 \\
$
So it takes 37 steps to empty the red balls in the basket
This shows that 12 white balls were added 37 times
Therefore the number of white balls in the basket is
$ \Rightarrow 12*37 = 444$
Therefore the number of white balls in the basket is 444.

Additional information
The probability of an event, which informs us of the likelihood of it occurring, can range anywhere from 0 (indicating that the event will never occur) to 1 (indicating that the event is certain)
the probability of all possible outcomes together must be 1
Two events that cannot occur at the same time are called disjoint or mutually exclusive.

Note: The technique used here is logical thinking .
Many complicate it by using ratios but we need to think in a logical way.
