The rainforest can be defined as the rich or dense biodiversity that is usually found in the tropical areas in which rainfall takes place. The annual rainfall of these rainforests ranges between 2.5 and 4.5 meters. So, primarily there are two types of rainforest namely tropical rainforest and temperate rainforest. The tropical rainforest is also referred to as the “ Jewels of the earth” or “world’s largest pharmacy”. This type of rainforest is located between the tropic of cancer on the northern side and the tropic of Capricorn on the southern side. The rainfall is approximately 2,000 mm annually. The temperate rainforest also covers a wide range of the area of the earth. This rainforest also receives 2,000 mm of rainfall annually. But these regions are usually dry in the summer. Some of the important effects that are leading to the depletion of the rainforest include mining, industrial development, construction of large dams, clearance of forest, and logging.
Additional Information – The areas of the world in which tropical rainforests are found include South-east Asia, Sub-saharan Africa, Central America, Australia, and Pacific Island. The areas in which temperate rainforests are found include North America, Europe, South America, and New Zealand.
