Hint: Double fertilization is the process involving syngamy and triple fusion. Double fertilization is a characteristic feature of angiosperms.

Complete Answer:
- Syngamy is the fusion of one male gamete( haploid) with a female gamete (haploid ) which results in formation of a diploid zygote. Double fertilisation is a characteristic feature of the angiosperms.
- In double fertilisation, after male gametes are launched with inside the embryo sac via way of means of the pollen tube, one male gamete fuses with the egg cell of the ovule to produce the zygote and the other male gamete fuses with the diploid central cell containing two polar nuclei.
- Thus, overall 5 nuclei are concerned inside the system of double fertilisation.
- Hence it includes 5 nuclei - Two of male gametes; three nuclei of the egg mobileular and a couple of polar nuclei.

The correct answer is option (D) 5.

Additional point: Double fertilization gives rise to an endosperm that provides nourishment to the developing embryo. It will increase the viability of the seeds of angiosperms. It makes use of each of the male gametes produced through the pollen grains.

Note: Double fertilization became determined with the aid of using Nawaschin in 1898 with inside the liliaceous plants, Lilium martagon and Fritillaria tenella.
