The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has been established under the Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005. It is a body with six members and one chairperson. It started operating from the 8th of September 2008.

The enactment of the Child Labour Amendment Act, 2016 was a landmark step to have a child labour free society. This act provided complete prohibition on employment of children who were under the age of 14. Children above 14 could be employed for certain labour only if it were a family job and the child wishes to support the family by doing it. But if the working conditions are hazardous, then even adolescent (14 – 18 years old) children are also not allowed to be employed.
