In the Gupta Empire, there was a King named Chandragupta 2 who ruled from 375 to 415CE. He was the son of king Samudragupta. He was a very powerful King; he extended his empire to the Indus on the west side, Bengal in the East, the Himalayas in the north, and the Narmada River in the south. In the respect of God Vishnu, it was made. The Iron Pillar has a height of 7.2 meters. It stands on bases with a diameter of 48cm & a weight of 6.5 tones. The pillar weighs more than 5865 kg. It’s still not rusted being in the open air for more than 1600 years. In this pillar crystalline iron III Hydrogen Phosphate hydrated layer is formed which protects the iron pillar from the effect of Delhi weather climate. On this pillar, the manuscript is written in Sanskrit language. King Chandra made this pillar in Mathura in front of God Vishnu Temple, later he made Garuda sculpture on that. That's why it's also called Garuda Stambha. After many years it's called that King Anandpal of Delhi brought that pillar from Mathura and established it in Delhi. This pillar still surprises scientists by its non-rusting phenomena.
