Hint - Govind Sagar Lake is located in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is a man-made reservoir. It was built on the Sutlej River and was named in honor of Guru Govind Singh. The Bhakra Nangal Project is a joint venture of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

Step by step solution - Gobind Sagar Lake is a reservoir located in Una and Bilaspur districts of Himachal Pradesh. It is built by Bhakra Dam. The reservoir is on the Sutlej River and is named in honor of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Govind Singh. One of the highest gravity dams in the world, Bhakra Dam rises about 225.5 meters above its lowest foundation. The work of Harvey Slocum began in the year 1955 and was completed in 1962, under the supervision of an American dam-builder. The flow of the Beas River was channelized by Beas to Gobind Sagar - the Sutlej link which was completed in 1976 to maintain the water level. The reservoir is located in Bilaspur district and Una district. Bilaspur is about 91 km from Bhakra Dam. It was named by Sardarji Harbans Singh Somal, former President of PSEB, in honor of 10th Guru Gobind Singh Ji. In October and November, when the water level of the reservoir is high, a series of regattas are also conducted by the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation. Water-skiing, sailing, kayaking, and water scooter racing are popular water sports activities during this period. Major attractions of the lake include water sports such as ferry rides and speed boating. Gobind Sagar was declared as a deluge refuge in 1962. Fishing is commonly practiced here. It has about fifty units and tribes. Labero dero, Tor pictura, Mistus sengala, and mirror carp are some of the common species found here. Gravity is one of the dams (in comparison the largest Auroville dam in the United States is 770 feet). The 166 km2 Gobind Sagar reservoir, named after Guru Gobind Singh, is formed by this dam, which is the third-largest reservoir in India and the first is Indira Sagar Dam, and the second is Nagarjunasagar Dam. The Sutlej River flowed through a narrow ghat between two hills, Daina of Naina Devi and Dhar of Ramgarh, and this place was chosen to tie the river.

So option A is the correct answer.

Note - It keeps excess water in the dam during the monsoon and provides a regulated release during the year. It also prevents the damage caused by monsoon floods. The Bhakra Canal provided by this dam irrigates 10 million acres (40,000 km) of farms in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Water flows down from the Bhakra Dam down to the Nangal Dam where it is controlled and released into the Nangal Hydel Channel which later becomes the Bhakra Main Line followed by the Gangwal and Kotla power plants. The Bhakra main line is a canal that supplies irrigation water to most of the state of Haryana.
