Hint: Golgi complex is a cell organelle that is single membrane bound and is part of the endomembrane system, found in eukaryotes only. Golgi complexes participate in formation of secretory vesicles.
Complete answer:
It is a single membrane bound organelle present in all eukaryotes and usually present in 5 to 8 flattened structures called cisternae.
Golgi body also known as golgi complex is series of membranous stack contain two faces, one is close to endoplasmic reticulum(cis face) and other is towards plasma membrane (trans face) that play role in budding out of secretory vesicle. These golgi vacuoles from the trans face are budded out and act as lysosomes.
Golgi body's main function is to process, packaging ( sorting and modifying) and help in transport and release of secretory proteins; involved in glycosylation of proteins & lipids.
Most proteins that are synthesised in endoplasmic reticulum are called glycoproteins which are transported to golgi via secretory vesicles and modified therein. It helps in transportation of material in or out of the cell. So Golgi complexes are the important site in formation of glycoproteins and glycolipids and contain various glycosylation enzymes that lead to post translational modifications of proteins.
Note:
Golgi complex, also known as golgi body or golgi apparatus is single membrane cell organelle, that principally performs processing, packaging materials and then transporting them to intracellular targets or secreted out of cell in form of secretory vesicles.
