The First World War started in 1914 was different from all other wars in the past. It was fought by many nations and affected almost all the countries of the world. It used many methods of defence and destruction.

Complete solution:
(a) It was the Great War and earlier it was called the First World War. It is because of its extent as well as the impact. This war was in between two groups of Europe. Both parts consisted of three countries initially. A further number of members increased. It was the period where technology was developing.

(b) Casualties of the First World War reached up to 41 million. It has included military and civilians. Out of which 20 million were dead and 21 million were injured. Among these 9.7 million were military personnel and 10 million were civilians. The Allied Powers have lost about the 5.7 million soldiers. On the other hand, the Central Powers lost a million soldiers.

(c) Trade restrictions cropped up after the First World War All the countries implemented protectionist policies for the global trading system. Later in 1929-30, there was a great depression and almost every country suffered economically.

This War demonstrated how important income tax was for a nation. Before the war, the top tax was 7% in the US and after the war, it reached up to 77%. Also, tourism does account for the economic growth and it just dropped to its lowest level.

There were two fronts during the First World War - the western front and eastern front. The western front had Britain, France fighting Germany and Austria-Hungary. In the Eastern front, there was Russia, fighting Germany.
