They launched their movement against measuring instruments (KOLGA) which was used to measure the produce by tenant farmers(GENI RAITA). Harsh mode of land revenue collection and exploitation of these farmers by landlords were the issue of agitation and were addressed by farmers. In the struggles party named Shri Shanthaveri Gopala Gowda of socialist party was in front. More struggle was brought to the struggle by Doctor Ram Manohar Lohia from Shivamogga. The Kagodu movement was the first peasant movement. Farmers have been the backbone of the nation but facilities provided to them are not enough. Farmers are sometimes in helpless situations where they do not get enough prices for their produce. They remain mostly on mercy of rain when even governments do not support them they choose the path of agitation. They keep on fighting for their rights.
