Hint:A narrow mountain pass at Haldighati near Gogunda in Rajasthan was the location of the battle. Rajput kings ruled most of North India a thousand years ago. Not only did the three most prominent Rajput heroes take a beating in critical engagements, they also withdrew from the field of battle. There were no actual divisions in the Mughal army, although it had four types of warriors:- cavalry, infantry, artillery, and navy. The principal role was held by the cavalry.

Complete answer:
On 18 June1576, the Battle of Haldighati was a war fought between the armies of the Mughal emperor Akbar and the Rana of Mewar, Maharana Pratap. The Mughal forces were under the leadership of Man Singh I of Amber. The Mughals were the winners and caused the Mewaris to suffer major losses. But, Mughals failed to capture Pratap, who survived. Raja Man Singh (Man Singh I) was born on 21 December 1550. He was the son of queen Bhagawati and king Bhagwant Das of Amber. Amber or Amer, is a place in Rajasthan, India. Man Singh I was the Mughal emperor Akbar's trusted general. He also included him among the Navaratnas (the nine gems) of Akbar's royal court. The Siege of Chittorgarh in 1568 resulted in the loss to the Mughals of the rich eastern belt of Mewar. However the Rana still ruled the rest of the wooded and hilly kingdom. Akbar was determined to establish a safe route via Mewar to Gujarat. When Pratap Singh was crowned king (Rana) in1572, Akbar sent a number of envoys for inviting the Rana. The war started when Rana declined to personally submit to Akbar.

Note:Man Singh I was eight years younger than Emperor Akbar. Akbar was born on October 15, 1542. Man Singh received from Akbar the title of Mirza [Raja] and the mansab (rank) of 5000 after his father's death on 10 December 1589.
Man Singh has been sent to Maharana Pratap by Akbar to make an agreement with Akbar and recognise Mughal sovereignty.
