The king sent out messengers in all directions, looking for anybody who could answer these questions. Despite the fact that there were several wise men present, their replies were all different. In response to the first question, some suggested the monarch should keep to a timetable, while others claimed it was difficult to anticipate the ideal time to do tasks ahead of time.

In answer to the second question, some wise men advised the monarch to listen to his advisers, while others advised the monarch to listen to the priest. Then there were others who felt the monarch should follow the doctor's orders, while others supported the use of troops. For the third question, some wise men recommended that the king's primary focus should be science, while others urged religion.

For the third question, some individuals thought science was the most important business, while others said war was the most important business, and yet others said religious worship should come first.
