Hint:Women’s representation refers to the contribution or place of the woman in Indian political system. It is related with the rights of the women in the society as well as in the office. It is also related to the women’s voting system.

Complete answer:
The participation of women in the Indian political system is not upto the mark and very low. In case of Lok Sabha, i.e. The House of People there has a reservation less than even 10%. Regarding the State Assemblies, women hold less than 5% reservation and in case of the Central Legislature they hold less than 10% of the total strength. In the year 2010 March the bill for the reservation of women was passed in the Rajya Sabha which provided them the reservation of 33% in the Parliament and State Legislative Bodies.
There were various movements established for bringing the women in the political system and giving them the right and some of them are - National Council of Women in India established in the year 1925 headed by Meherbai Tata, All India Mahila Congress established in the year 1984 and is presently headed by Sushmita Dev and National Federation of Indian Women established in the year 1954 on 4th June.

Note:Some steps should be taken for the improvement of women’s representation in the political system such as:-
It should be made mandatory legally to provide a fair proportion of treatment in the election system.
There should be special reservation of seats for women in the State Assemblies and Lok Sabha.
More efforts should be made on the promotion of education of women in order to increase the literacy rate and make them capable of decision making.
The first Woman Prime Minister of India was Indira Gandhi and the first Woman President of India was Pratibha Patil.
