Hint The laws of liquid pressure help us in characterizing the behaviour of fluids in different kinds of situations such as being in containers, being under pressure, etc. There are mainly 5 laws of liquid pressure that govern the behaviour of liquids in different situations.
Complete step by step answer
The laws of liquid pressure are given as follows:
(i) Pressure below the liquid free surface increases with the depth from the free surface of the liquid that is the top of the liquid.
(ii) In case of a stationary fluid, the pressure is the same in all horizontal planes.
(iii) The pressure inside the liquid in a container is the same in all directions.
(iv) Pressure at the same depth is different in different liquids since it depends on the density of the liquid. The pressure inside the liquid increases with the increase in the density of the liquid as the pressure is proportional to the density of the liquid directly.
(v) A liquid when placed in a container will attain its own level inside the container as the pressure applied to the container only depends on the height of the liquid and not the shape of the container.
Note
The laws of liquid pressure are just laws that govern the behaviours of fluids in different scenarios. We can also write these principles by visualizing the behaviour of fluids in containers and under different pressures by visualizing the behaviour of liquids in daily situations. These laws are only applicable for Newtonian liquids.
