The All India Muslim League which popularized as Muslim league. It was a political party, established in 1906. The League was formed under the leadership of Aga Khan, the Nawab of Dhaka, and Nawab Mohsin-ul-Mulk. The main notion behind the formation of the league was to safeguard the rights of Indian Muslim. It was the first Muslim political party of India. The chief aim of the league was to promote and secure civil rights for Muslims. The league was favored and encouraged by the British until the organization adopted self government for India as their goal in 1913. The several leaders and Mohammad Ali Jinnah called for Hindu-Muslim unity till the early 1940. This political group led the movement during the 1940s calling for a separate Muslim nation during the time of partition of British India. Even though the idea of partition of the nation was not on the minds of the Indian Muslim during the early years of league. This was because they feared that independent India would be dominated by Hindus. The party under the leadership of Jinnah led the campaign for Pakistan throughout the 1940s. They were successful in the mission of dividing the country eventually. India got independent and partitioned in the year 1947. The league later got dissolved on 14 August 1947.
