Hint: The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of Parliament, is the presiding officer and the highest authority in the Lok Sabha. Following general elections, the speaker is elected at the Lok Sabha's first meeting. The speaker is elected from among the Lok Sabha's sitting members for a five-year term and is, by convention, a member of the governing party or coalition.

Complete answer:
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha performs the business in house and determines whether a bill is a money bill or not. They preserve order and decorum in the house and have the right to suspend a member for misbehaving. They also authorise the adoption of different motions and amendments, such as a vote of no confidence, adjournment, censure, and calling attention notice, in compliance with the laws. The Speaker dictates what subjects will be discussed during the conference. The President sets the date for the Speaker's election.

In the first place, the speaker does not vote. In the event of a tie, he will cast the deciding vote. In other terms, the Speaker is only allowed to vote when the House is evenly split on some issue. This kind of vote is known as a casting vote, and it is used to break a tie.

Note:
- After the General Elections, a protem speaker is chosen for a short time to run the lower House of Parliament. The protem speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha, Virendra Kumar, was sworn in.
- The present Speaker, Om Birla of the Bharatiya Janata Party, presided over the 17th Lok Sabha.
- The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, along with the Chief Justice of India, is ranked sixth in the order of precedence. He is responsible to the Lok Sabha.
