Hint: The given equation is a linear equation in a single variable x.We will transpose the constant value of LHS to RHS and then solve this linear equation $x=9-5$ to get the value of x.

Complete step-by-step answer:
It is given in the question that we have to solve the following equation $x+5=9$. Basically, this is a linear equation $x+5=9$ and we will transpose all the variable values on one side and all the constant values on the other side.In the given equation, $x+5=9$ we have x as variable and 5 and 9 are constant. So, we will transpose 5 from LHS to RHS so that all the constant will be on one side.
On transposing 5 from LHS to RHS, we get $x=9-5$, on solving we get,
$x=4$.
Thus, the value of x will be 4.

Note: It is observed that most of the students make mistakes in taking signs. They may take the sign ‘+’ with 5 even after transposing it from LHS to RHS. As a result, students may get the value of x as $9+5=14$ which is not the correct answer at all. Therefore, it is recommended to take care of such silly mistakes. Also, students may copy the question statement wrong. Therefore, extra care must be taken while noting the question, as such simple questions should not be done wrong at any cost.
