The Anti- Untouchability league is also known as Harijan Sevak Sangh. It was set up by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, while he was imprisoned, on 30th October 1932 which is approximately 88 years ago. It was formed in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This organization was formed with the help of Mahatma Gandhi 's followers who aimed to remove untouchability from our society. Harijan is referred to as God’s Children, earlier Harijans were considered to be untouchable, and were stopped from entering any public places. After the Second Round Table Conference, the British government consented to give Communal Award to the discouraged classes on the solicitation of B. R. Ambedkar. Gandhi contradicted the public authority's choice which he considered would partition the Hindu society and accordingly went on to the infinite fast in Yerwada Jail. He finished his fast only after he marked Poona Pact with Ambedkar on 24 September 1932. On 30 September, Gandhi established the All India Anti Untouchability League, to eliminate distance in the general public, which was later renamed as Harijan Sevak Sangh ("Servants of Untouchables Society'').
