Hint: Respiration involves the movement of oxygen from the surroundings into the cell within tissues and is defined as the removal of carbon dioxide in the opposite direction. An organism acquires energy through this metabolic process.

Complete answer:
Respiration is an exothermic process as it releases heat or energy. During our breathing process, we feel warmer air coming outside which happened due to the respiration reaction in our body. The amount of carbohydrates present in our food gets broken down for the formation of glucose which combines with oxygen present in the cells of our body and helps in providing energy. This reaction is defined as respiration and is considered an exothermic reaction. The organism obtains energy during the process of respiration in the form of adenosine triphosphate by oxidizing nutrients and giving out waste products.
Adenosine triphosphate constitutes molecules of adenosine which are bonded together by 3 phosphate groups and perform a process of cellular respiration and chemical energy in food which gets converted into chemical energy that is used by a cell and is stored in the molecules of ATP. This process takes place when a molecule of adenosine diphosphate takes the energy that gets released through cellular respiration to fit combining with the third phosphate group. The energy released during cellular respiration gets stored in the combined phosphate group between the second and the third phosphate groups and the cell requires the energy to do work.

So, the correct answer is 'exothermic process'.

Note:
During the process of building a small portion of the air we breathe never reaches the alveoli and is known as the dead Air which is not used in gaseous exchange. The capacity of lungs varies which depends upon some external factors such as altitude lung, body size etc
