Hint: The battle of Talikota also called ‘Rakkasa Tangadi’, was a watershed battle. The place is presently known by the name Karnataka. After the battle, the Vijayanagara dynasty was totally destroyed or declined.

Complete answer: The battle of Talikota was a watershed battle fought between the empire Vijayanagara and an alliance of the Deccan sultanates at a site southeast of Bijapur, presently northern Karnataka state. The defeat of Aliya Rama Raya led to the eventual collapse of the polity and reconfigured Deccan politics. This battle was fought on 23 January 1565 resulting in the victory of Deccan Sultanates and sacking of Vijayanagara along with the complete declination of the Vijayanagara dynasty.
The battle caused a political rupture for the state of Vijayanagara and permanently reconfigured Deccan politics. The details of the battle and its immediate aftermath are very difficult to connect as there are so many contrary narrations by the primary sources. Defeat is usually blamed upon the gap in relative military prowess. Orientalists and nationalist historians have given the battle as the clash between the civilizations-Hindus and Muslims. This is unanimously rejected by the modern scholars and termed as fatally flawed

Hence, the correct answer is option (B). 1565.

Note: The exact place of the clash happened has been variously mentioned as Talikota, Rakkasagi-Tangadagi and Bannihatti. These all are on the bank of river Krishna. There is a popular culture which has been adopted into a play by Girish Karnad, based on the analysis of Eaton.
