Prince Khurram is also known by the name Shah Jahan. The original name was Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram who was the fifth Mughal Emperor and ruled during 1628 to 1658. He was born in the year 1592 on 5th January in Lahore which is at present Pakistan and was the third son of his father Jahangir also known as Prince Salim. Shah Jahan had many wives but he is mainly known for his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal.
He created his name in the Indian history due to his work, i.e. the best monument of India Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh was commissioned by him in the year 1632 in remembrance of his favourite and beloved wife Mumtaz. It is estimated that the cost incurred was around 32 million rupees at that time which is around 70 billion rupees in 2020. The total number of artisans employed for the construction was around 20,000 under the guidance of Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.
