Hint: 12 Presidents of the United States of America have held no degree at all. However, 9 haven’t even gone to university. They were all in power in a time when degrees were rare and mostly not required for people to practice their professions.

Complete answer:
The list of presidents who did not graduate from college with a degree most famously includes George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and extends to James Monroe, Zachary Taylor, Martin Van Buren, Harry S. Truman, Millard Fillmore, Grover Cleveland, Andrew Jackson, Andrew Johnson and William McKinley.

Their lack of a degree however should not be construed as their distance from education. Some have gone on to establish educational institutions (Millard Fillmore established the University of Buffalo) and others have attended but have dropped out for a myriad of reasons (like fighting in the Revolutionary War).

On the flip side, there also exist two cases where the President had practically no education. One of them is Abraham Lincoln, and the other is Andrew Johnson.

Most presidents have gone to Harvard, the number being 5 in total. This includes John Adams, who was the first in power with a college degree. All others can also be traced to 34 universities and schools.

The current president of the USA, Joe Biden also exhibits the pattern of lawyers in politics. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965 and got his law degree from Syracuse University in 1968.

Note: This pattern has been broken since 1953, which is indicative of the weight put on holding a (bachelor’s) degree in recent times. However, this is not a formal criteria. Those three include, being a natural-born citizen of the country, age to be 35 years or older and residency of 14 years.
