It is a very noble cause to donate blood. But donating blood can sometimes cause temporary weakness in the body. Thus, it is required to take precautions after the blood donation. Some of these precautions are –
1. Try to stay hydrated by drinking lots of fluids and water.
2. Avoid any kind of strenuous physical activity and lifting of heavy things for the immediate next five hours.
3. In case of any lightheaded feeling lying down with feet up helps.
4. Allow the bandage that is holding the puncture from where the blood was drawn for at least five hours.
5. Take a good diet with plenty of nutrients to enhance the formation of the blood in the body.
6. In case of any abnormal event, contact a doctor immediately.
Note: To be able to donate blood a person should be physically fit themselves and free from any type of disease. They should be at least 18 years of age or above. Their body weight should be more than 50 kilograms. And they should be able to pass health and physical assessments. Only a person who can fulfill all these criteria is allowed to donate blood.
