The main source of radiation is sun and many rays are emitted by the sun and few of them reach the plant which are very useful and are known as Photosynthetically active radiation.

To make photosynthesis process more efficient Light harvesting complex (LHC) have hundreds of pigments which absorb different wavelengths of light.

PAR is required for growth of plants as a higher amount of PAR leads to the growth of plants by photosynthesis. Approximately 50% of visible light or visible rays are reached to the plant which are emitted by the sun.
