Hint: Harappan civilization one of the oldest urban civilizations in indian subcontinent .Its also known as indus civilization. It appeared about 2500-1700 BCE.

Complete step by step answer:
Cotton was one of the earliest domesticated non-food crops in the world. The first evidence of cotton cultivation in the Indian subcontinent comes from 7000 years ago from a site known as Mehrgarh. The ancient site of Mehrgarh is presently located in the Baluchistan region of Pakistan. The earliest evidence of cotton being used was discovered by John Marshall from a 6th millennium BCE Neolithic burial at Mehrgarh. The burial had copper beads which were preserved through the process of mineralization. Mehrgarh also produced the earliest evidence of farmers in South Asia. From Mehrgarh, knowledge of cotton and its uses was utilized by people of Indus Valley civilization. Traces of cotton were found at many sites of Indus Valley Civilisation. Several strands of copper were found at Mohenjo-Daro in 1929 CE. A silver vase having cotton cloth attached to its lid confirms that people used cotton. The script of Indus valley civilization has not been discovered yet, so there is no literary evidence of the use of cotton by people of Indus Valley Civilisation. The first literary evidence of the use of cotton comes from Hindu and Buddhist religious texts. The use of cotton is also mentioned in the Vedic texts.
So, the correct answer is Option A.

Note: Cotton continued to be an important item of export from India till the 18th century. The Indian cotton and textile industry declined after the arrival of the British to the Indian Subcontinent. British took the raw cotton from India at low prices and manufactured textiles in Britain thus weakening the Home-grown cotton industry.
